Corrective discipline   ~   Look beyond the chastening to the love that administers it.

Good parents are wise to be firm disciplinarians of their children, just as God, by loving correction, sometimes disciplines His children.  Yet He does so with the love of a father who cares deeply for his child.  The story of the prodigal son illustrates how corrective discipline sometimes hurts.  Actually, both sons in the story needed discipline.  One was lost in a distant land, the other stayed home but with a very wrong attitude.  The story illustrates how our heavenly Father loves all of His lost children.  And God deeply loves you, so look beyond any chastening to the love that administers it.  For whom the Lord loves He chastens. -Hebrews 12:5-6
